Reading...Bury Your Dead

Bury Your Dead by Louise Penny.

This is the 6th book in the series.

Peter gave me this book for Christmas. I was tempted to sit down and start reading it amidst all the wrapping paper but I decided to wait and savor it later.

This book was very enjoyable for me. As I mentioned before, the previous book left me feeling a little uncertain about the series, you can read that here.  But this book restored my faith! I am looking forward to the next book but for the first time I have to wait!  I have caught up with the series and now I have to wait for the next book to be published.

Reading...Allison Pearson

"I Don't Know How She Does It"

I found this book highly entertaining and I think every mother can identify with it. I am a stay at home mother so, I'm not trying to hold a high pressure career job outside of the home while attempting to remain involved in my children's life but I could still relate to many of the challenges.  In the book she addresses the differences between the "working" moms and the "stay-at-home" moms.
"There is an uneasy standoff between the two kinds of mother which sometimes make it hard for us to talk to each other. I suspect that the nonworking mother looks at the working mother with envy and fear because she thinks that the working mum has got away with it, and the working mum looks back with fear and envy because she knows that she has not. In order to keep going in either role, you have to convince yourself that the alternative is bad. The working mother says, Because I am more fulfilled as a person I can be a better mother to my children. And sometimes she may even believe it. The mother who stays at home knows that she is giving her kids an advantage, which is something to cling to when your toddler has emptied his beaker on juice over your last clean T-shirt."
I also liked how she was constantly doing these "must remember" lists in her head. I have these constantly going in my head and on paper, there are days that I believe I would forget to breathe if I didn't make a note!

Happy New Year!!!

One of my New Year's Resolutions is to post more often...we shall see how that goes. Actually I should be able to catch up some in the next few days, I have a number of posts that have been written but I haven't published because I wanted to add pictures. As those of you who have satellite Internet know...it sucks, and many times your speed it too slow to upload/download etc. I recently had my modem replaced and then the router so we seem to be working better, hopefully I'll be able to add the pictures and publish all the back posts. For some reason Starbucks doesn't like to me sit in there and write my blog, it may have something to do with two toddlers tearing down the displays as I write.
